Searching for the cheapest car insurance rates? Consumers have many options when looking for the lowest priced Suzuki XL-7 insurance. You can either waste hours calling around trying to get quotes or utilize the internet to get rate quotes. There are both good and bad ways to find car insurance online so you’re going to learn the proper way to price shop coverage for a Suzuki and obtain the cheapest rates either online or from local insurance agents.

Which Auto Insurance is Cheapest?

Finding lower auto insurance rates can be relatively painless. The only thing you need to do is take time comparing rate quotes from different insurance companies. This can be accomplished in just a few minutes using one of these methods.

  1. The recommended way to find low rates would be an industry-wide quote request form (click to open form in new window). This easy form keeps you from doing repetitive form entry for each company. One form will get you price quotes direct from many companies. It’s the fastest way to compare.
  2. A less efficient way to shop for auto insurance online consists of visiting the website for every company you want to comare to complete their respective quote request forms. For examples sake, let’s say you want comparison quotes from Nationwide, Allstate and GMAC. To get rate quotes you would need to take the time to go to each site to enter your coverage information, which is why most consumers use the first method.

  3. The least recommended method to get comparison rates is to spend time driving to different agent offices. The internet can eliminate the need for a local agent unless you require the personal advice only provided by licensed agents. It is possible to price shop online but still have the advice of a local agent and we’ll cover that in a bit.

It’s up to you which method you use, but be sure to compare identical quote information for every company. If you enter different limits and deductibles on each one it will be impossible to determine the lowest rate for your Suzuki XL-7.

Take advantage of discounts

Companies that sell car insurance don’t necessarily list all their discounts in an easy-to-find place, so we break down both the well known and the harder-to-find ways to save on insurance. If they aren’t giving you every credit you qualify for, you are paying more than you should be.

  • Low Mileage Discounts – Low mileage vehicles could be rewarded with discounted rates on garaged vehicles.
  • Good Students Pay Less – Performing well in school can be rewarded with saving of up to 25%. Earning this discount can benefit you well after school through age 25.
  • Save with a New Car – Adding a new car to your policy can save up to 30% compared to insuring an older model.
  • Senior Citizens – If you’re over the age of 55, you may receive better insurance rates for XL-7 insurance.
  • Anti-theft System – Vehicles equipped with anti-theft or alarm systems are stolen less frequently and will save you 10% or more.
  • Seat Belts Save – Buckling up and requiring all passengers to use a seat belt can save up to 15% off your medical payments premium.

As a disclaimer on discounts, most discounts do not apply the whole policy. The majority will only reduce the cost of specific coverages such as liability and collision coverage. So when the math indicates having all the discounts means you get insurance for free, it just doesn’t work that way.

How to know if you need help

When it comes to choosing the best car insurance coverage, there really is no perfect coverage plan. Your needs are not the same as everyone else’s.

Here are some questions about coverages that can help discover whether you would benefit from professional advice.

  • Can I drive in Mexico and have coverage?
  • Should I buy more coverage than the required minimum liability coverage?
  • Is a fancy paint job covered?
  • How many claims can I have before being canceled?
  • What are the best liability limits?
  • Do I benefit by insuring my home with the same company?
  • Do I get a pro-rated refund if I cancel my policy early?
  • Where can I find DUI or SR-22 insurance?
  • Where can I get insurance after a DUI in my state?
  • Do I need special endorsements for business use of my vehicle?

If it’s difficult to answer those questions but you think they might apply to your situation then you might want to talk to an agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, fill out this quick form. It’s fast, doesn’t cost anything and you can get the answers you need.

Information about specific coverages

Knowing the specifics of your policy can be of help when determining appropriate coverage and the correct deductibles and limits. The terms used in a policy can be ambiguous and reading a policy is terribly boring.

Comprehensive coverage (or Other than Collision)

Comprehensive insurance coverage covers damage from a wide range of events other than collision. You need to pay your deductible first and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.

Comprehensive insurance covers claims like falling objects, vandalism, hitting a deer, damage from flooding and rock chips in glass. The most you can receive from a comprehensive claim is the cash value of the vehicle, so if the vehicle’s value is low it’s not worth carrying full coverage.

Collision insurance

Collision coverage pays for damage to your XL-7 resulting from a collision with another car or object. You have to pay a deductible and the rest of the damage will be paid by collision coverage.

Collision coverage protects against claims like hitting a parking meter, backing into a parked car, colliding with a tree and sideswiping another vehicle. Paying for collision coverage can be pricey, so consider removing coverage from older vehicles. Drivers also have the option to raise the deductible to save money on collision insurance.

Insurance for medical payments

Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and medical payments coverage provide coverage for short-term medical expenses such as surgery, hospital visits, EMT expenses, dental work and doctor visits. They are used to cover expenses not covered by your health insurance program or if there is no health insurance coverage. It covers not only the driver but also the vehicle occupants and will also cover being hit by a car walking across the street. PIP is not available in all states but it provides additional coverages not offered by medical payments coverage

Uninsured Motorist or Underinsured Motorist insurance

Your UM/UIM coverage provides protection from other motorists when they do not carry enough liability coverage. It can pay for medical payments for you and your occupants as well as damage to your Suzuki XL-7.

Since many drivers carry very low liability coverage limits, it only takes a small accident to exceed their coverage. So UM/UIM coverage should not be overlooked.

Liability coverage

This protects you from damage or injury you incur to people or other property that is your fault. It protects YOU against claims from other people, and doesn’t cover damage to your own property or vehicle.

Coverage consists of three different limits, bodily injury per person, bodily injury per accident and property damage. As an example, you may have liability limits of 100/300/100 that means you have $100,000 in coverage for each person’s injuries, $300,000 for the entire accident, and a total limit of $100,000 for damage to vehicles and property.

Liability coverage protects against claims like bail bonds, medical expenses and structural damage. How much liability coverage do you need? That is a decision to put some thought into, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase as high a limit as you can afford.
