Searching Companies

Searching for better insurance rates for your BMW Z4? Expensive insurance can overdraw your bank account and make it hard to pay other bills. Comparing price quotes is free and is an excellent way to tighten up your finances.

Because there are so many companies and agents to choose from, it’s nearly impossible to find the lowest cost company.

Save on 2009 BMW Z4 insurance

Insuring your vehicles can cost a lot, but there are discounts available to help offset the cost. Most are applied when you get a quote, but lesser-known reductions have to be manually applied before being credited.

  • Lower Rates for Military – Being deployed with a military unit can result in better rates.
  • Seat Belts Save – Using a seat belt and requiring all passengers to wear their seat belts could save 15% off your PIP or medical payments premium.
  • Anti-theft Discount – Anti-theft and alarm systems are stolen less frequently and will save you 10% or more.
  • Sign Online – A handful of insurance companies give back up to $50 for buying a policy and signing up digitally online.
  • New Vehicle Savings – Putting insurance coverage on a new car can save up to 30% due to better safety requirements for new cars.
  • Anti-lock Brakes – Vehicles with anti-lock braking systems can avoid accidents and therefore earn up to a 10% discount.
  • No Claims – Drivers who don’t have accidents can earn big discounts when compared to drivers who are more careless.

It’s important to understand that most credits do not apply to all coverage premiums. The majority will only reduce specific coverage prices like medical payments or collision. So despite the fact that it appears you could get a free car insurance policy, it just doesn’t work that way. But any discount will cut your overall premium however.

Compare the Market for Insurance

There are a lot of ways to compare insurance quotes, but there is one way that is less time-consuming than others. You can spend countless hours talking to insurance companies in your area, or you can utilize online quotes to get rates in a matter of minutes.

The majority of car insurance companies participate in an industry program where insurance shoppers only type in their quote data once, and every company returns a rated price. This eliminates the need for form submissions for each company you want a rate for.

To access this free quoting program, click here to start a free quote.

The one downside to using this type of form is you are unable to specify which insurance companies to get pricing from. If you wish to select specific providers to request quotes from, we have assembled a list of low cost insurance companies in your area. Click here for list of insurance companies.

It’s up to you how you get prices quotes, just ensure you are comparing apples-to-apples coverages for every company. If you enter unequal deductibles or liability limits it will be next to impossible to find the best deal for your BMW Z4. Quoting even small variations in insurance coverages could mean much higher rates. Just remember that getting more free quotes will enable you to find the best price.

Tailor your coverage to you

When buying the right insurance coverage, there isn’t really a “perfect” insurance plan. Every situation is different so this has to be addressed. For instance, these questions can help discover whether or not you may require specific advice.

  • What exactly is covered by my policy?
  • What is covered by UM/UIM coverage?
  • Do I need rental car coverage?
  • Will my insurance pay for OEM parts?
  • Why is insurance for a teen driver so high?
  • What if I total my 2009 BMW Z4 and owe more than it’s worth?

If it’s difficult to answer those questions, you may need to chat with a licensed insurance agent. If you don’t have a local agent, complete this form or you can go here for a list of companies in your area.

Insurance coverages explained

Understanding the coverages of your policy can be of help when determining the best coverages at the best deductibles and correct limits. The coverage terms in a policy can be ambiguous and nobody wants to actually read their policy. Below you’ll find the normal coverages found on most insurance policies.

Collision coverages – Collision insurance covers damage to your Z4 resulting from colliding with an object or car. You have to pay a deductible and the rest of the damage will be paid by collision coverage.

Collision coverage protects against claims such as hitting a parking meter, backing into a parked car, sustaining damage from a pot hole and crashing into a ditch. Collision coverage makes up a good portion of your premium, so consider removing coverage from vehicles that are older. Drivers also have the option to raise the deductible to save money on collision insurance.

Liability auto insurance – Liability insurance can cover damage that occurs to other’s property or people in an accident. It protects you against other people’s claims, and does not provide coverage for your own vehicle damage or injuries.

It consists of three limits, bodily injury for each person injured, bodily injury for the entire accident and a property damage limit. As an example, you may have limits of 100/300/100 which means a $100,000 limit per person for injuries, a per accident bodily injury limit of $300,000, and property damage coverage for $100,000. Alternatively, you may have a combined limit which provides one coverage limit and claims can be made without the split limit restrictions.

Liability coverage protects against things like emergency aid, medical services and repair bills for other people’s vehicles. The amount of liability coverage you purchase is a personal decision, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase higher limits if possible.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage – Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist coverage protects you and your vehicle when other motorists either are underinsured or have no liability coverage at all. Covered claims include medical payments for you and your occupants as well as your vehicle’s damage.

Because many people have only the minimum liability required by law, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. So UM/UIM coverage is a good idea. Usually your uninsured/underinsured motorist coverages are identical to your policy’s liability coverage.

Medical payments coverage and PIP – Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP provide coverage for short-term medical expenses for things like dental work, prosthetic devices, EMT expenses, ambulance fees and nursing services. They can be used to fill the gap from your health insurance policy or if you lack health insurance entirely. Medical payments and PIP cover both the driver and occupants as well as getting struck while a pedestrian. PIP is not available in all states and may carry a deductible

Comprehensive coverage – This coverage will pay to fix damage from a wide range of events other than collision. You need to pay your deductible first and then insurance will cover the rest of the damage.

Comprehensive coverage pays for claims such as a tree branch falling on your vehicle, vandalism, hitting a bird, hitting a deer and falling objects. The maximum payout you can receive from a comprehensive claim is the ACV or actual cash value, so if the vehicle is not worth much consider dropping full coverage.

In the end, you save

When buying insurance coverage, make sure you don’t skimp on coverage in order to save money. In many cases, consumers will sacrifice liability limits or collision coverage only to regret that saving that couple of dollars actually costed them tens of thousands. Your aim should be to purchase plenty of coverage at a price you can afford while still protecting your assets.
