Searching Companies

Have you had enough of trying to scrape together enough money to buy car insurance? Your situation is no different than many other drivers. With so many car insurance companies to choose from, it’s difficult to find the best car insurance company.

The purpose of this post is to let you in on how to get online quotes and some tips to save money. If you are paying for car insurance now, you should be able to reduce your rates substantially using these tips. Consumers only need an understanding of how to compare price quotes online.

How to Compare Auto Insurance Quotes

Most major insurance companies allow you to get prices on the web. Getting quotes is pretty painless as you just type in your coverage preferences into a form. After the form is submitted, the system will obtain your driving record and credit report and returns pricing information. Online price quotes simplifies rate comparisons, but the time required to go to several different sites and fill out multiple forms can be a bit tiresome and repetitive. But it’s very important to perform this step if you are searching for better auto insurance pricing.

A more efficient way to compare rates is to use a quote form that gets price quotes from multiple companies. The form is fast, requires much less work on your part, and makes comparison shopping a lot less work. Immediately after submitting the form, your coverage is rated and you can choose your choice of the resulting price quotes.

If you find a better price you can simply submit the application and buy the new coverage. It takes less than 15 minutes and may save quite a bit of money.

To save time and find out how much you’re overpaying now, click here and enter your information. If you have your current policy handy, we recommend you enter the insurance coverages exactly as they are listed on your policy. This ensures you will have an apples-to-apples comparison for exact coverage.

Take advantage of discounts

Car insurance is not cheap, but there could be available discounts to cut the cost considerably. Certain discounts will be triggered automatically at the time of quoting, but a few need to be asked for prior to getting the savings. If you aren’t receiving every discount you deserve, you are throwing money away.

  • Bundle and Save – When you combine your home and auto insurance with the same insurance company you may save at least 10% off all policies.
  • Accident Waiver – Certain companies will forgive one accident before your rates go up if your claims history is clear for a particular time prior to the accident.
  • Drivers Ed for Students – Require your teen driver to complete a driver education course in high school.
  • Early Signing – A few companies offer discounts for switching to them prior to your current policy expiration. This can save 10% or more.
  • Senior Citizens – If you’re over the age of 55, you may receive reduced rates on GS 450h insurance.
  • Accident Free – Drivers with accident-free driving histories pay much less as compared to frequent claim filers.
  • Club Memberships – Affiliation with a professional or civic organization could trigger savings when buying car insurance on GS 450h insurance.

It’s important to understand that some credits don’t apply to the entire cost. Most only apply to individual premiums such as comprehensive or collision. So when it seems like you would end up receiving a 100% discount, you won’t be that lucky. But all discounts will reduce your overall premium however.

How to know if you need help

When it comes to buying the right insurance coverage for your personal vehicles, there is no single plan that fits everyone. Everyone’s needs are different and a cookie cutter policy won’t apply. For example, these questions can aid in determining whether you might need an agent’s assistance.

  • Do I have coverage when pulling a U-Haul trailer?
  • Why am I required to buy liability insurance?
  • How high should my medical payments coverage be?
  • Am I missing any policy discounts?
  • What is covered by UM/UIM coverage?
  • I have good health insurance, so how much medical payments coverage do I need?
  • How do I file an SR-22 for a DUI in my state?
  • If my pet gets injured in an accident are they covered?
  • Is extra glass coverage worth it?

If you don’t know the answers to these questions but a few of them apply, then you may want to think about talking to an agent. To find lower rates from a local agent, complete this form or click here for a list of insurance coverage companies in your area. It is quick, free and can help protect your family.

Insurance coverage specifics

Knowing the specifics of insurance helps when choosing the best coverages at the best deductibles and correct limits. Insurance terms can be impossible to understand and nobody wants to actually read their policy. Listed below are typical coverages available from insurance companies.

Protection from uninsured/underinsured drivers – This coverage protects you and your vehicle’s occupants from other drivers when they either have no liability insurance or not enough. It can pay for medical payments for you and your occupants and also any damage incurred to your 2009 Lexus GS 450h.

Due to the fact that many drivers only carry the minimum required liability limits, their limits can quickly be used up. So UM/UIM coverage is important protection for you and your family. Normally the UM/UIM limits do not exceed the liability coverage limits.

Auto liability insurance – This protects you from damage or injury you incur to people or other property. This coverage protects you against claims from other people. It does not cover your own vehicle damage or injuries.

Liability coverage has three limits: bodily injury for each person injured, bodily injury for the entire accident and a property damage limit. Your policy might show liability limits of 25/50/25 that translate to $25,000 bodily injury coverage, $50,000 for the entire accident, and a total limit of $25,000 for damage to vehicles and property. Occasionally you may see one limit called combined single limit (CSL) that pays claims from the same limit with no separate limits for injury or property damage.

Liability coverage pays for claims like medical expenses, court costs, attorney fees and structural damage. How much liability should you purchase? That is a personal decision, but you should buy as much as you can afford.

Collision coverages – Collision insurance covers damage to your GS 450h resulting from colliding with an object or car. You will need to pay your deductible then the remaining damage will be paid by your insurance company.

Collision insurance covers things such as backing into a parked car, scraping a guard rail, hitting a parking meter and driving through your garage door. This coverage can be expensive, so consider removing coverage from vehicles that are older. You can also bump up the deductible to save money on collision insurance.

Comprehensive (Other than Collision) – This pays to fix your vehicle from damage that is not covered by collision coverage. A deductible will apply then the remaining damage will be covered by your comprehensive coverage.

Comprehensive coverage protects against things such as fire damage, a broken windshield, a tree branch falling on your vehicle, vandalism and hitting a deer. The most your insurance company will pay is the ACV or actual cash value, so if your deductible is as high as the vehicle’s value it’s probably time to drop comprehensive insurance.

Medical expense insurance – Medical payments and Personal Injury Protection insurance kick in for expenses such as surgery, rehabilitation expenses, doctor visits, chiropractic care and prosthetic devices. They are often used to fill the gap from your health insurance policy or if there is no health insurance coverage. It covers all vehicle occupants and also covers any family member struck as a pedestrian. PIP coverage is not an option in every state and gives slightly broader coverage than med pay

Take this to the bank

When buying insurance coverage, you should never buy poor coverage just to save money. There have been many situations where an insured cut uninsured motorist or liability limits and discovered at claim time they didn’t purchase enough coverage. Your strategy should be to find the BEST coverage for the lowest price while still protecting your assets.

The cheapest 2009 Lexus GS 450h insurance is available both online and with local insurance agents, so you should compare both in order to have the best chance of saving money. Some companies do not offer you the ability to get quotes online and many times these small, regional companies only sell through independent insurance agents.
