Searching Companies

Want lower insurance coverage rates for your Buick Verano? Feel like you’re a prisoner to overpriced insurance coverage? Believe me when I say you’re not the only one.

Lots of insurance companies contend to insure your vehicles, so it’s not easy to compare every insurer to get the lowest price

Don’t overlook these discounts

Car insurance can cost a lot, but you can get discounts that many people don’t even know exist. Some discounts apply automatically when you complete an application, but lesser-known reductions have to be asked for before you get the savings.

  • Drive Less and Save – Low mileage vehicles can earn discounted rates on garaged vehicles.
  • Multi-policy Discount – When you combine your home and auto insurance with the same company you may earn approximately 10% to 15%.
  • Own a Home – Being a homeowner can save you money because of the fact that having a home is proof that your finances are in order.
  • Early Switch Discount – A few companies offer discounts for switching to them before your current expiration date. It’s a savings of about 10%.
  • Multiple Cars – Buying insurance for all your vehicles on the same insurance policy can get a discount on all vehicles.
  • Good Student Discount – Getting good grades can save 20 to 25%. The discount lasts well after school through age 25.
  • Payment Discounts – By paying your policy upfront instead of monthly or quarterly installments you can actually save on your bill.

Keep in mind that some credits don’t apply to your bottom line cost. Most only cut the price of certain insurance coverages like collision or personal injury protection. So when it seems like you can get free auto insurance, you’re out of luck. But all discounts will reduce your premiums.

How to Compare Auto Insurance Quotes

When shopping for auto insurance there are multiple ways of comparing rate quotes from different insurance companies. The quickest method to find the cheapest 2015 Buick Verano insurance rates involves getting comparison quotes online. This can be accomplished in a couple of different ways.

  1. The first (and easiest) way consumers can make multiple comparisons is to use a rate comparison form click here to open form in new window. This form prevents you from having to do separate quote forms for each company. One quote request will return price quotes direct from many companies.
  2. Another way to compare rate quotes is to take the time to go to the website for every company you want to comare and request a quote. For example, let’s assume you want to compare rates from Progressive, Esurance and American Family. You would have to visit each site and enter your information, which is why the first method is quicker. For a list of links to companies insuring cars in your area, click here.

It doesn’t matter which method you choose, just compare the exact same quote information for every quote you compare. If you enter differing limits it’s not possible to determine which rate is truly the best. Just a small difference in limits may result in a large different in cost. Keep in mind that quoting more helps you find the best price.

Is my situation unique?

When choosing coverage for your personal vehicles, there really is not a “perfect” insurance plan. Every situation is different so your insurance needs to address that. For example, these questions might help in determining if your insurance needs might need professional guidance.

  • Does my policy cover me when driving someone else’s vehicle?
  • How many claims can I have before being canceled?
  • Is there coverage for injuries to my pets?
  • What should my uninsured motorist coverage limits be in my state?
  • Is motorclub coverage worth it?
  • What if I owe more than I can insure my car for?
  • Are rental cars covered under my policy?
  • Does my car insurance cover rental cars?

If you’re not sure about those questions but you know they apply to you, then you may want to think about talking to an agent. To find an agent in your area, complete this form or click here for a list of insurance coverage companies in your area.

Car insurance specifics

Knowing the specifics of your policy aids in choosing which coverages you need and proper limits and deductibles. Car insurance terms can be difficult to understand and reading a policy is terribly boring. Listed below are typical coverages offered by car insurance companies.

Coverage for liability – Liability coverage protects you from damage or injury you incur to other people or property. This insurance protects YOU from claims by other people, and doesn’t cover your own vehicle damage or injuries.

Liability coverage has three limits: bodily injury for each person injured, bodily injury for the entire accident and a property damage limit. Your policy might show policy limits of 50/100/50 that means you have $50,000 in coverage for each person’s injuries, $100,000 for the entire accident, and a limit of $50,000 paid for damaged property. Another option is one limit called combined single limit (CSL) that pays claims from the same limit rather than limiting it on a per person basis.

Liability coverage protects against claims like repair bills for other people’s vehicles, court costs, legal defense fees, pain and suffering and attorney fees. How much coverage you buy is a personal decision, but you should buy as high a limit as you can afford.

Insurance for medical payments – Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and medical payments coverage reimburse you for immediate expenses such as ambulance fees, doctor visits and rehabilitation expenses. The coverages can be used to cover expenses not covered by your health insurance policy or if you are not covered by health insurance. It covers not only the driver but also the vehicle occupants and will also cover being hit by a car walking across the street. Personal injury protection coverage is not universally available but can be used in place of medical payments coverage

Comprehensive coverage (or Other than Collision) – This coverage pays to fix your vehicle from damage OTHER than collision with another vehicle or object. A deductible will apply and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.

Comprehensive coverage pays for claims like vandalism, hitting a deer, damage from getting keyed, theft and a broken windshield. The maximum payout you’ll receive from a claim is the actual cash value, so if the vehicle’s value is low it’s not worth carrying full coverage.

Collision coverages – This covers damage to your Verano from colliding with an object or car. You have to pay a deductible then the remaining damage will be paid by your insurance company.

Collision coverage protects against things such as crashing into a building, hitting a mailbox, backing into a parked car, colliding with another moving vehicle and sideswiping another vehicle. This coverage can be expensive, so consider removing coverage from lower value vehicles. Drivers also have the option to raise the deductible to save money on collision insurance.

Uninsured Motorist or Underinsured Motorist insurance – This gives you protection from other drivers when they either have no liability insurance or not enough. This coverage pays for injuries to you and your family and also any damage incurred to your Buick Verano.

Because many people only purchase the least amount of liability that is required, their liability coverage can quickly be exhausted. That’s why carrying high Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage should not be overlooked. Frequently these coverages do not exceed the liability coverage limits.

Saving money makes a lot of cents

Cost effective 2015 Buick Verano insurance can be found online in addition to many insurance agents, and you need to price shop both in order to have the best chance of saving money. There are still a few companies who do not provide online price quotes and many times these small, regional companies only sell through independent insurance agents.

While you’re price shopping online, it’s a bad idea to buy poor coverage just to save money. In many instances, an insured dropped liability limits or collision coverage only to discover later that they should have had better coverage. The ultimate goal is to buy enough coverage for the lowest price.
