Because you have many auto insurance companies to choose from, it’s nearly impossible to pick the cheapest insurer.
How to Lower Your Car Insurance Cost
There are several ways to shop for MINI Cooper Roadster car insurance, but one way is less time-consuming than others. You can waste a few hours (or days) discussing policy coverages with local insurance agents in your area, or you could save time and use online quoting for quick rates.
Many companies enroll in a system where insurance shoppers submit their information once, and each participating company provides a quote determined by their information. This system prevents you from having to do form submissions for every car insurance company.

One minor caviat to getting quotes like this is you don’t know exactly which providers to get quotes from. So if you want to choose individual companies for rate comparison, we have a listing of the cheapest car insurance companies in your area. Click here for list of insurance companies.
It’s up to you which method you use, but make absolute certain that you use apples-to-apples information on every quote you get. If you enter different limits and deductibles on each one you can’t possibly find the best deal for your MINI Cooper Roadster. Slightly different coverages can mean a large discrepancy in price. Just keep in mind that comparing more company’s prices will enable you to find the best offered rates.
When might I need help?
When choosing the right insurance coverage for your personal vehicles, there is no “best” method to buy coverage. Everyone’s situation is unique and your policy should reflect that. For example, these questions can help discover whether or not you would benefit from an agent’s advice.
- When should I not file a claim?
- Does car insurance cover theft of personal property?
- Do I have coverage when using my vehicle for my home business?
- How can I find cheaper teen driver insurance?
- How much liability do I need to cover my assets?
- Is my nanny covered when driving my vehicle?
- Can my teen drive my company car?
- Is my cargo covered for damage or theft?
- Does my insurance cover a custom paint job?
If it’s difficult to answer those questions, then you may want to think about talking to a licensed insurance agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, fill out this quick form or you can go here for a list of companies in your area.
Insurance coverages 101
Knowing the specifics of your policy helps when choosing the right coverages and the correct deductibles and limits. Insurance terms can be impossible to understand and coverage can change by endorsement. These are typical coverages offered by insurance companies.
Medical payments coverage and PIP
Med pay and PIP coverage pay for short-term medical expenses such as EMT expenses, X-ray expenses, rehabilitation expenses and dental work. The coverages can be used in conjunction with a health insurance policy or if there is no health insurance coverage. It covers you and your occupants in addition to if you are hit as a while walking down the street. Personal Injury Protection is not available in all states but can be used in place of medical payments coverage
This coverage covers damage that is not covered by collision coverage. You need to pay your deductible first then the remaining damage will be covered by your comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive insurance covers things like theft, hitting a bird and damage from getting keyed. The most you can receive from a comprehensive claim is the actual cash value, so if it’s not worth much more than your deductible it’s probably time to drop comprehensive insurance.
This coverage covers damage to your Cooper Roadster caused by collision with an object or car. You will need to pay your deductible and then insurance will cover the remainder.
Collision coverage pays for claims such as hitting a mailbox, rolling your car, crashing into a building and hitting a parking meter. Collision coverage makes up a good portion of your premium, so consider dropping it from vehicles that are 8 years or older. Another option is to bump up the deductible to bring the cost down.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage
This protects you and your vehicle’s occupants when the “other guys” either are underinsured or have no liability coverage at all. Covered losses include injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants as well as your vehicle’s damage.
Since a lot of drivers only carry the minimum required liability limits, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. For this reason, having high UM/UIM coverages is important protection for you and your family. Frequently the UM/UIM limits are identical to your policy’s liability coverage.
Auto liability insurance
Liability coverage will cover damages or injuries you inflict on people or other property by causing an accident. This coverage protects you against claims from other people, and does not provide coverage for your injuries or vehicle damage.
Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: bodily injury for each person, bodily injury for the entire accident, and a limit for property damage. As an example, you may have policy limits of 25/50/25 which stand for a $25,000 limit per person for injuries, a total of $50,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident, and a limit of $25,000 paid for damaged property. Occasionally you may see one number which is a combined single limit which limits claims to one amount with no separate limits for injury or property damage.
Liability coverage protects against things such as medical expenses, attorney fees, emergency aid, structural damage and repair bills for other people’s vehicles. How much liability should you purchase? That is your choice, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase higher limits if possible.
