What are forward collision warning (FCW) systems?

FCW systems help limit rear-end accidents especially with slower-moving or stopped vehicles. A forward collision warning (FCW) system monitors your vehicle’s speed and (here’s the key) vehicle speed in front of you, and the distance between each. If the vehicles get too close, the FCW system will emit a warning sound to prevent crashes. This system does not take control of the vehicle. The driver must respond to the warning.
