Perplexed by the sheer number of auto insurance options? Lot’s of other consumers are too. Drivers have so many options available that it can be a lot of work to find the best price.

Fast and Easy Car Insurance Quotes

The are a couple different ways of comparing rates and find the best price. The simplest method to find competitive 1993 Mitsubishi Mighty Max Pickup insurance rates is to perform an online rate comparison. It is quite easy and can be accomplished in a couple of different ways.

  1. The best way to get quotes for comparison is to use a rate comparison form (click to open form in new window). This easy form keeps you from doing separate quote forms to each individual car insurance company. In just a few minutes this one form will get you price quotes from multiple companies. Just one form and you’re done.
  2. A more time consuming way to shop for car insurance online is spending the time to visit each company’s website and fill out their own quote form. For sake of this example, let’s assume you want to compare rates from Progressive, Liberty Mutual and State Farm. To get rate quotes you would need to go to every website and enter your policy data, and that’s why the first method is more popular.

It’s your choice how you get your quotes, but ensure you are comparing exactly the same coverage information for each comparison quote. If you compare unequal deductibles or liability limits you will not be able to make an equal comparison. Having just a slight variation in limits could mean much higher rates. And when comparing car insurance rates, know that more quotes helps locate better pricing.

Take advantage of discounts

Companies offering auto insurance do not advertise all their discounts in an easy-to-find place, so we researched some of the more common as well as the least known insurance savings.

  • Air Bag Discount – Cars that have air bags or motorized seat belts can receive discounts of up to 25% or more.
  • Multiple Policy Discount – If you have multiple policies with the same company you may save at least 10% off all policies.
  • Lower Rates for Military – Being deployed with a military unit could be rewarded with lower premiums.
  • Resident Student – Kids in college who attend school more than 100 miles from home and don’t have a car may qualify for this discount.
  • Pay Upfront and Save – If paying your policy premium upfront instead of monthly or quarterly installments you could save up to 5%.
  • Homeowners Pay Less – Being a homeowner may earn you a small savings because maintaining a house shows financial diligence.
  • Auto/Life Discount – Select insurance companies reward you with a break if you buy life insurance from them.

A little note about advertised discounts, most of the big mark downs will not be given to all coverage premiums. Most only reduce individual premiums such as medical payments or collision. Even though it may seem like all the discounts add up to a free policy, companies wouldn’t make money that way.

How to know if you need help

When it comes to choosing adequate coverage, there isn’t really a cookie cutter policy. Your needs are not the same as everyone else’s.

For instance, these questions could help you determine whether your personal situation will benefit from professional help.

  • Do I need added coverage for expensive stereo equipment?
  • Am I covered when driving on a suspended license?
  • Am I covered if hit by an uninsured driver?
  • Am I covered when renting a car or should I buy coverage from the car rental agency?
  • Does medical payments coverage apply to all occupants?
  • At what point should I drop full coverage?
  • Is business equipment covered while in my vehicle?
  • What exactly is covered by my policy?

If you’re not sure about those questions but one or more may apply to you, you might consider talking to a licensed agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, simply complete this short form.

Insurance specifics

Understanding the coverages of insurance can help you determine the right coverages and proper limits and deductibles. Policy terminology can be difficult to understand and reading a policy is terribly boring.

Collision protection

This covers damage to your Mighty Max Pickup resulting from colliding with an object or car. A deductible applies then the remaining damage will be paid by your insurance company.

Collision coverage pays for things such as colliding with another moving vehicle, scraping a guard rail, damaging your car on a curb, crashing into a building and sideswiping another vehicle. This coverage can be expensive, so you might think about dropping it from vehicles that are 8 years or older. Another option is to increase the deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM)

This protects you and your vehicle from other motorists when they either are underinsured or have no liability coverage at all. Covered losses include hospital bills for your injuries as well as your vehicle’s damage.

Since many drivers have only the minimum liability required by law, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. This is the reason having UM/UIM coverage is very important.

Comprehensive insurance

This coverage will pay to fix damage caused by mother nature, theft, vandalism and other events. You first have to pay a deductible and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.

Comprehensive coverage pays for things such as hitting a bird, hitting a deer and hail damage. The highest amount a insurance company will pay at claim time is the cash value of the vehicle, so if your deductible is as high as the vehicle’s value it’s not worth carrying full coverage.

Auto liability insurance

Liability coverage can cover injuries or damage you cause to other’s property or people in an accident. It protects YOU against claims from other people. It does not cover damage sustained by your vehicle in an accident.

It consists of three limits, per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. You might see policy limits of 50/100/50 which means $50,000 bodily injury coverage, a per accident bodily injury limit of $100,000, and a limit of $50,000 paid for damaged property.

Liability can pay for claims such as court costs, structural damage, pain and suffering, medical services and repair costs for stationary objects. How much liability coverage do you need? That is up to you, but buy as much as you can afford.

Med pay and Personal Injury Protection (PIP)

Med pay and PIP coverage provide coverage for immediate expenses such as pain medications, doctor visits, rehabilitation expenses and prosthetic devices. They are often used to cover expenses not covered by your health insurance policy or if you lack health insurance entirely. It covers all vehicle occupants and also covers if you are hit as a while walking down the street. PIP is not universally available and gives slightly broader coverage than med pay
