Nobody enjoys paying for insurance coverage, especially knowing their premiums are through the roof. Big companies like Allstate, Liberty Mutual and State Farm constantly blast consumers with catchy ads and it is challenging if not impossible to avoid their marketing magic and effectively compare rates to find the best deal.

It is always a good idea to do rate comparisons quite often since insurance rates are adjusted regularly by insurance companies. Even if you got the best rates on S-Class insurance a few years ago there is a good chance you can find better rates now. You can find a lot of misleading information regarding insurance coverage online, so I’m going to show you some proven techniques to save money.

Comparison of Insurance

Finding lower insurance rates can be relatively painless. Consumers just need to take the time to get quotes from different insurance companies. This can be done using a couple different methods.

The recommended way to get quotes for comparison is a comparison rater form click to view form in new window. This easy form saves time by eliminating repetitive form entry for each company. Completing one form gets you coverage quotes from all major companies.

A slightly less efficient method to get comparison quotes requires a trip to the website of each company to complete a price quote. For sake of this example, we’ll pretend you want to compare rates from Liberty Mutual, Allstate and State Farm. To get rate quotes you would need to spend time on each company’s site to enter your coverage information, and that’s why the first method is more popular. It’s your choice how you get your quotes, but make sure you use the exact same coverage limits with every price quote. If you use mixed coverages it’s impossible to determine the lowest rate for your Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

When might I need help?

When it comes to choosing the right insurance coverage, there isn’t really a “best” method to buy coverage. Coverage needs to be tailored to your specific needs and your policy should reflect that. For instance, these questions can aid in determining whether you will benefit from professional help.

  • Am I covered when driving on a suspended license?
  • What vehicles should carry emergency assistance coverage?
  • How much liability insurance is required?
  • What companies insure drivers after a DUI or DWI?
  • Does my liability insurance cover pulling a trailer or camper?
  • Am I covered when delivering products for my home-based business?

If you don’t know the answers to these questions but a few of them apply, then you may want to think about talking to a licensed insurance agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, complete this form or you can go here for a list of companies in your area. It’s fast, free and can provide invaluable advice.

Learn about car insurance coverages for a Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Learning about specific coverages of your car insurance policy can be of help when determining which coverages you need at the best deductibles and correct limits. Car insurance terms can be difficult to understand and reading a policy is terribly boring. Below you’ll find the usual coverages offered by car insurance companies.

Auto liability insurance

This coverage protects you from damages or injuries you inflict on people or other property by causing an accident. This coverage protects you against other people’s claims, and does not provide coverage for damage sustained by your vehicle in an accident.

Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. You might see values of 100/300/100 that means you have a $100,000 limit per person for injuries, $300,000 for the entire accident, and $100,000 of coverage for damaged property. Occasionally you may see one limit called combined single limit (CSL) which limits claims to one amount and claims can be made without the split limit restrictions.

Liability insurance covers things such as medical services, court costs and medical expenses. How much liability should you purchase? That is up to you, but buy higher limits if possible.

Comprehensive insurance

Comprehensive insurance pays to fix your vehicle from damage caused by mother nature, theft, vandalism and other events. You first must pay your deductible then your comprehensive coverage will pay.

Comprehensive coverage protects against things such as rock chips in glass, a broken windshield, falling objects, damage from getting keyed and vandalism. The most you can receive from a comprehensive claim is the actual cash value, so if your deductible is as high as the vehicle’s value consider removing comprehensive coverage.

Med pay and Personal Injury Protection (PIP)

Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP kick in for immediate expenses such as nursing services, funeral costs, dental work and surgery. They can be used to fill the gap from your health insurance plan or if you are not covered by health insurance. It covers both the driver and occupants and also covers getting struck while a pedestrian. PIP coverage is not universally available and may carry a deductible

Coverage for collisions

Collision insurance will pay to fix damage to your S-Class caused by collision with another vehicle or an object, but not an animal. A deductible applies and the rest of the damage will be paid by collision coverage.

Collision coverage protects against things like colliding with another moving vehicle, rolling your car, colliding with a tree and crashing into a ditch. Collision is rather expensive coverage, so you might think about dropping it from vehicles that are 8 years or older. Drivers also have the option to increase the deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM)

This gives you protection when other motorists either have no liability insurance or not enough. This coverage pays for injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants and also any damage incurred to your Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Since a lot of drivers only purchase the least amount of liability that is required, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. For this reason, having high UM/UIM coverages is important protection for you and your family. Frequently these coverages do not exceed the liability coverage limits.
