Looking for lower auto insurance rates for your Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class? Feel like you’re a prisoner to overpriced auto insurance? Trust us, you’re not the only one.

You have multiple auto insurance companies to purchase coverage from, and even though it’s nice to be able to choose, so many choices can make it hard to find the best rates.

Buying car insurance is not rocket science. If you are paying for car insurance now, you should be able to lower your premiums substantially using this strategy. But car owners must learn the methods companies use to market insurance on the web.

Companies offer discounts so take them!

Car insurance companies don’t always publicize every discount in an easy-to-find place, so we took the time to find both well-publicized and also the lesser-known discounts you could be receiving.

  • Anti-lock Brake System – Cars that have steering control and anti-lock brakes are safer to drive and earn discounts up to 10%.
  • Safety Course Discount – Taking a driver safety course could save 5% or more if you qualify.
  • Pay Now and Pay Less – If you pay your bill all at once instead of monthly or quarterly installments you may reduce your total bill.
  • Discount for Good Grades – This discount can save 20 to 25%. Earning this discount can benefit you well after school through age 25.
  • Low Mileage Discounts – Keeping the miles down on your Mercedes-Benz could be rewarded with a substantially lower rate.
  • Resident Student – Any of your kids who attend school more than 100 miles from home and do not have access to a covered vehicle may be able to be covered for less.
  • Bundle and Save – If you insure your home and vehicles with the same company you may earn approximately 10% to 15%.
  • Discount for Swiching Early – A few companies offer discounts for switching to them prior to your current policy expiring. The savings is around 10%.

As a disclaimer on discounts, many deductions do not apply to the overall cost of the policy. Most only cut individual premiums such as liability and collision coverage. So despite the fact that it appears you can get free auto insurance, you won’t be that lucky.

Do I just need basic coverages?

When choosing proper insurance coverage for your personal vehicles, there is no best way to insure your cars. Every situation is different so your insurance needs to address that. For example, these questions might point out whether you would benefit from professional advice.

  • Do all my vehicles need collision coverage?
  • Can I afford to buy a different vehicle if my 2007 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class is totaled?
  • Do I need more liability coverage?
  • Is extra glass coverage worth it?
  • Is my trailer covered?
  • Do I have coverage when making deliveries for my home business?

If you’re not sure about those questions, you may need to chat with an insurance agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, fill out this quick form or go to this page to view a list of companies.

Car insurance coverages for a Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class

Having a good grasp of your policy can help you determine which coverages you need for your vehicles. The coverage terms in a policy can be confusing and nobody wants to actually read their policy. These are typical coverage types found on most car insurance policies.

Auto liability insurance

This can cover injuries or damage you cause to people or other property in an accident. It protects YOU against claims from other people, and does not provide coverage for damage to your own property or vehicle.

It consists of three limits, bodily injury per person, bodily injury per accident and property damage. You commonly see liability limits of 50/100/50 that translate to a $50,000 limit per person for injuries, a per accident bodily injury limit of $100,000, and a total limit of $50,000 for damage to vehicles and property.

Liability can pay for claims such as legal defense fees, pain and suffering, bail bonds, funeral expenses and repair costs for stationary objects. How much liability coverage do you need? That is a decision to put some thought into, but consider buying higher limits if possible.

Comprehensive car insurance

This will pay to fix damage that is not covered by collision coverage. A deductible will apply and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.

Comprehensive insurance covers claims like falling objects, damage from a tornado or hurricane and vandalism. The most you can receive from a comprehensive claim is the cash value of the vehicle, so if the vehicle’s value is low it’s not worth carrying full coverage.

Coverage for medical expenses

Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and medical payments coverage provide coverage for short-term medical expenses for things like pain medications, rehabilitation expenses, prosthetic devices and dental work. The coverages can be used to cover expenses not covered by your health insurance policy or if there is no health insurance coverage. Medical payments and PIP cover all vehicle occupants in addition to being hit by a car walking across the street. PIP is not available in all states but can be used in place of medical payments coverage

Coverage for uninsured or underinsured drivers

This protects you and your vehicle’s occupants from other drivers when they are uninsured or don’t have enough coverage. Covered claims include injuries to you and your family and damage to your Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class.

Since many drivers only carry the minimum required liability limits, it only takes a small accident to exceed their coverage. That’s why carrying high Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage is very important.

Collision insurance

Collision insurance pays to fix your vehicle from damage from colliding with a stationary object or other vehicle. You will need to pay your deductible then the remaining damage will be paid by your insurance company.

Collision coverage pays for claims such as colliding with a tree, crashing into a ditch and sideswiping another vehicle. Collision coverage makes up a good portion of your premium, so consider dropping it from lower value vehicles. Another option is to bump up the deductible to bring the cost down.

Buy online or local, you save

When buying insurance coverage, make sure you don’t reduce needed coverages to save money. In too many instances, consumers will sacrifice comprehensive coverage or liability limits and learned later that saving that couple of dollars actually costed them tens of thousands. Your focus should be to buy the best coverage you can find at the best price.

Cheap 2007 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class insurance can be sourced both online and also from your neighborhood agents, and you should be comparing both so you have a total pricing picture. Some companies may not provide the ability to get a quote online and most of the time these regional insurance providers sell through independent agents.
