Searching Companies

Want lower car insurance rates for your Kia Sedona? Have you fallen victim to high-priced car insurance? Trust us, you are not the only one feeling buyer’s remorse. There are many auto insurance companies to pick from, and even though it’s nice to be able to choose, having more insurance companies makes it harder to compare rates.

It’s a good habit to check car insurance prices periodically due to the fact that insurance rates are usually higher with each renewal. Even if you think you had the best deal for Sedona coverage a year ago you may be paying too much now. Forget anything you know (or think you know) about car insurance because I’m going to let you in on the secrets to the best methods to get good coverage at a lower rate.

This information will instruct you on the most effective way to quote insurance and some tips to save money. If you currently have car insurance, you should be able to reduce your rates substantially using this strategy. Vehicle owners just need to know the tricks to compare prices over the internet.

Automobile Insurance Quotes

There are several ways to compare Kia Sedona car insurance prices but there is one way that is more efficient than others. You can waste a lot of time driving to local insurance agents in your area, or you could save time and use online quotes to get pricing more quickly.

All the larger companies participate in a marketplace that allows shoppers to submit one quote, and at least one company then returns a price quote for coverage. This system prevents you from having to do quote requests for each company you want a rate for.

The one disadvantage to using this type of form is you can’t choose which carriers you will receive quotes from. If you wish to select specific insurance companies to receive pricing from, we put together a list of car insurance companies in your area. View list of insurance companies.

It’s your choice how you get your quotes, but make absolute certain that you use exactly the same coverage information for each comparison quote. If you enter unequal deductibles or liability limits it will be very difficult to make an equal comparison.

Save with discounts on Kia Sedona insurance

Car insurance is not cheap, but there could be available discounts to reduce the price significantly. Some discounts apply automatically at the time of quoting, but some must be asked about prior to receiving the credit. If you aren’t receiving every discount available, you are paying more than you should be.

  • Homeowners Discount – Being a homeowner can save you money because maintaining a house demonstrates responsibility.
  • Payment Method – By paying your policy upfront rather than paying monthly you could save 5% or more.
  • Life Insurance – Companies who offer life insurance give a discount if you purchase life insurance.
  • Seat Belt Usage – Buckling up and requiring all passengers to wear their seat belts can save up to 15% on the medical payments or PIP coverage costs.
  • Drivers Ed for Students – Cut your cost by having your teen driver successfully complete driver’s ed class in high school.
  • Anti-theft Discount – Anti-theft and alarm systems are stolen less frequently and qualify for as much as a 10% discount.

As a disclaimer on discounts, some credits don’t apply to the overall cost of the policy. Most only reduce specific coverage prices like physical damage coverage or medical payments. So despite the fact that it appears you would end up receiving a 100% discount, you’re out of luck. But any discount will bring down your overall premium however.

Tailor your coverage to you

When it comes to buying the right insurance coverage for your personal vehicles, there really is no one size fits all plan. Every insured’s situation is different so your insurance needs to address that. For example, these questions might point out whether you might need an agent’s assistance.

  • How do I file an SR-22 for a DUI in my state?
  • Can I get a multi-policy discount?
  • What if I total my 2012 Kia Sedona and owe more than it’s worth?
  • Is my custom paint covered by insurance?
  • Am I insured when driving a different vehicle?
  • Should I get collision insurance on every vehicle?

If you can’t answer these questions but a few of them apply, you might consider talking to an agent. To find lower rates from a local agent, take a second and complete this form or click here for a list of insurance coverage companies in your area. It’s fast, doesn’t cost anything and may give you better protection.

Auto insurance 101

Learning about specific coverages of a insurance policy can be of help when determining appropriate coverage and proper limits and deductibles. The terms used in a policy can be difficult to understand and nobody wants to actually read their policy. Listed below are the usual coverages available from insurance companies.

Coverage for medical payments

Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP pay for short-term medical expenses for ambulance fees, dental work and funeral costs. They are used to fill the gap from your health insurance plan or if you are not covered by health insurance. Coverage applies to not only the driver but also the vehicle occupants and also covers getting struck while a pedestrian. Personal Injury Protection is not available in all states but it provides additional coverages not offered by medical payments coverage

Collision insurance

This coverage will pay to fix damage to your Sedona resulting from a collision with another vehicle or an object, but not an animal. You will need to pay your deductible then the remaining damage will be paid by your insurance company.

Collision coverage protects against things such as colliding with another moving vehicle, sideswiping another vehicle, sustaining damage from a pot hole, damaging your car on a curb and rolling your car. This coverage can be expensive, so you might think about dropping it from vehicles that are 8 years or older. Drivers also have the option to bump up the deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.

Uninsured and underinsured coverage

Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist coverage protects you and your vehicle’s occupants when other motorists do not carry enough liability coverage. Covered claims include injuries to you and your family as well as damage to your Kia Sedona.

Since many drivers only carry the minimum required liability limits, their limits can quickly be used up. That’s why carrying high Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage is a good idea. Usually the UM/UIM limits are set the same as your liablity limits.

Comprehensive coverages

This coverage pays for damage that is not covered by collision coverage. A deductible will apply then your comprehensive coverage will pay.

Comprehensive can pay for things such as theft, falling objects, damage from a tornado or hurricane, fire damage and damage from flooding. The most your insurance company will pay is the actual cash value, so if your deductible is as high as the vehicle’s value consider removing comprehensive coverage.

Liability insurance

Liability coverage can cover damages or injuries you inflict on a person or their property by causing an accident. It protects YOU from legal claims by others, and doesn’t cover damage sustained by your vehicle in an accident.

Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. Your policy might show policy limits of 50/100/50 that means you have $50,000 in coverage for each person’s injuries, a per accident bodily injury limit of $100,000, and a limit of $50,000 paid for damaged property. Some companies may use a combined limit which limits claims to one amount without having the split limit caps.

Liability can pay for things such as medical services, repair bills for other people’s vehicles, loss of income and pain and suffering. How much liability coverage do you need? That is up to you, but you should buy as high a limit as you can afford.
